Hospital Dental Group strives to bring clients the best dental services in Hartford, performed by the top dentists in their field. This is especially the case for our resident humanitarian dentist, Dr. Anatoliy Ravin. Dr. Ravin’s contributions to the field, and to society in general, set the bar for professionalism, character, and moral fiber.
Dr. Anatoliy Ravin recently completed a trip to the Amazon as part of his humanitarian efforts to bring aid to the residents. He visited the natives of Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where he brought his skills, education, and kind heart to the local underprivileged children. Armed with his dental tools and a smile, Dr. Ravin performed his pro-bono dental work in order to reinforce and strengthen the teeth of the natives that lack the resources and education needed.
Local residents of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve have said that the Amazon is “not just the river – it is a landlocked sea in the heart of the most mysterious jungle in the universe.” The water flows for 7 million square kilometers, which makes it a longer body of water than the Nile, and pours out into the Atlantic Ocean. And due to its size and location, it can be difficult for locals to receive the help they need, whether it be dental or any other physical healthcare opportunities.
With all of this to say, Dr. Ravin finds a passion in traveling to these remote areas ever since he started his full acclimation to his new life in the US at the age of 19. Both he and his wife have found their calling in the dental field, and these skills are directly applicable to his love of helping others.
“We both know how important it is to receive help when you’re in need. That’s why we’re dedicated to giving back,” -Dr. Ravin.
Dr. Ravin’s experiences with helping others stretches far and beyond the length of the Amazon. His travels also include Haiti and Peru during their troubling times, and he can often be found bringing his time and services to the Hartford Community Health Center, and the VA in Rocky Hill. His latest trip includes a visit to Jamaica, where he brings the same can-do attitude and dental skills to the underprivileged of the country. He shows no signs of slowing down, neither, as he sets his course for working and planning around the trips of the future.
