Extend Professional Teeth Whitening with These Three DIY Methods
One question we’re asked quite often by recipients of our teeth whitening services is how to extend the results. As part of our services we offer both at-home teeth whitening trays and strips, but once an initial professional teeth whitening session has taken place, it’s not uncommon for our patients to prolong the beautiful results with their own DIY practices. We’re happy to report that there are indeed actions you can take from the comfort of your very own home to keep those shiny, white teeth gleaming.
Our Hospital Dental Group patients love our Ultradent Teeth Whitening system. Both our office and take home kits are safe, effective, and reliable and have the ability to help brighten teeth several shades lighter and boost confidence by producing a noticeably whiter smile. To help our patients extend the remarkable results of professional teeth whitening, here are tips we recommend that you can do from home:
- Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide Mix Does the Trick
It’s an oldie but a goodie, but mixing baking soda and a little hydrogen peroxide together to form a paste can help brighten your smile. Simply make the paste and brush it softly onto your teeth. This should only be done once every six to three months to avoid abrasion to the teeth.
- Clean Food Link to Help You Keep Your Drink
Must we give up coffee and tea? Say it isn’t so! Sadly coffee, tea, candies, and other delicacies are notorious for staining teeth. On the flipside, did you know there are foods considered as “detergent foods,” that clean the teeth when you eat them? If coffee is a non-negotiable (we don’t blame you if it is!), then eat a detergent food last to cleanse teeth such as an apple, carrot, and even popcorn!
- Apple Cider Each Day Washes Teeth Stains Away
Gargling apple cider daily not only has the power to kill bacteria in your mouth, it can also remove stains on the teeth and brighten them up.
When in doubt, always give Dr. Ravin a shout! He’ll be glad to recommend products to address your specific dental needs, including extending the longevity of your teeth whitening procedure. He also often provides at-home trays to be used for touch-ups and maintenance at home, and of course, we’ll be more than happy to provide touch-ups during your checkups.
It also probably goes without saying, but we’ll say it any way that vaping and smoking will affect the results of your teeth whitening. So don’t do either!
